Ordinary motion sensors watch for heat that moves, so they lose you the moment you settle into a chair and switch the lights off around you. This uses millimetre-wave radar instead: it sees a body that is present, not just a body that is moving. The trade is that it wants tuning — sensitivity and range are worth an evening of adjustment before you trust it with the lights.
