A contact sensor tells you a window is open. This one also reads the light in the room and feels vibration through the frame, which is the difference between knowing a window moved and knowing why. Zigbee, so it needs a hub. The vibration channel is the one worth wiring an automation to: glass being worked on reads very differently from a window being opened.
